英国はリバプール出身の新人バンドThe Dead 60sのデビューアルバム「The Dead 60s」のアメリカ盤は、どうやら話題のXCP仕様らしい（今のところ日本のアマゾンではコピープロテクト仕様に関する表記はない）。

　先日書いた「Sony BMGが新しいコピー防止技術を密かに市場テスト中」に対するコメントとして、じょな さんから、同CDのPCへの取り込みはATRAC／WMA形式でしか行えなかったという貴重な情報をいただいた。

　気になったので海外サイトを検索したら、「I Wish I Was an Urban Hipster」というBlogでも以下のような言及があった：

Long story short, this new DRM used by Sony only allows you to play cd tracks on PCs using their special player. From there you can make either protected WMAs or Atracs, both of which won't fly on an iPod. However, Mac users are saved from this horrible player, which by the way would make a clipping sound every 3 seconds on my computer, because I guess Sony doesn't want to admit Apple even exists.

　また、CDパッケージの裏面には「only compatible with Windows Media, and Sony Walkmen digital music players」という旨が記されているらしい。これはおそらくPCからリッピングする場合の条件を説明しているのだろう。さらに気になるのは、Windows環境ではダメだけど、Mac環境だとリッピングしてiPodに取り込み可能というような話もあったりする…。

　今後、大物アーティストの作品でXCPが採用された場合、アメリカのユーザーがどう反応するのかを注目したいところ。もしかするとその最初の例がFoo Fightersの新譜になるのかもしれない。

　ところで、日本盤の邦題「無線衝突」は、クラッシュの「Radio Clash」からなんだろうけど、ちょっとねぇ（笑）。
